Based on the power supply, grinders are broadly classified into Cordless and Electric Grinders. Electric grinders work on AC power supply whereas Cordless grinders are expensive and use DC power supply. Angle grinders derive power from an electric motor which propels a geared head at a right angle on which an abrasive disc is mounted. The size of the abrasive disc varies from 4 inches to 9 inches depending upon the power the grinder is required to generate. Angle Grinders with 4 inches and 5 inches generate higher RPM (Revolutions Per Minute) and less power. They are mostly used in less power intensive jobs. For more power, grinders with bigger disc sizes of 7 inches and 9 inches fit the bill. Such discs generate more power and are used for heavy metal and fabrication purposes. 2. Bench Grinders:

Bench Grinders are mounted on a workbench and have rotating abrasive wheels. It is used for sharpening cutting tools like tool bits, drill bits, and chisels. It can also be used to fashion metal pieces before welding or fitting. The abrasive wheels have an RPM threshold which should not be breached. Over speeding of grinding wheel should be avoided because it might lead to explosions and accidents. 3. Die Grinders:

Die grinders are the most preferred handheld power tools for grinding, honing and polishing materials such as metal and plastic. They also come in flexible shaft drive forms. Safety First

a) Wear the protective gear, safety goggles, and hand gloves while operating grinders. Hand gloves ensure better hold of the tool and protect your hands from heat and sparks.

b) Grinders should be operated at an angle of 15 to 30 degrees. It significantly reduces the risk of powerful kick back.

c) Identify the right grinder for the job and follow manufacturer's instructions diligently. Avoid using a more powerful grinder than what is necessary for the job.

A) Ergonomics:

Grinders are powered by motors which are of types- Brushed (with carbon brushes) and Brushless (without carbon brushes). C) Insulation:
